Epsilon Carbon, a global leader in carbon black and specialty carbon products, has published its 6th Sustainability Report for FY 2025–26, titled “Anchored in Carbon. Embedded in Circularity.” The comprehensive report highlights the company's advancements in energy efficiency, emissions reduction, safety, inclusivity, and community welfare, while establishing a strategic roadmap for a resilient and responsible carbon value chain.
Epsilon Carbon integrates its sustainability program directly into its manufacturing footprint, supporting value chains across the tyre, rubber, and industrial manufacturing sectors. The company centers its operations on delivering high-quality carbon materials while maximizing resource efficiency and minimizing its environmental footprint.
In FY 2025–26, Epsilon Carbon slashed its Scope 2 emissions intensity by 98% against its FY 2022–23 baseline. Driven by operational efficiency gains, the company also cut its energy consumption intensity by 6%.
The company’s decarbonization efforts centered on its 17 MW captive power plant, which utilizes waste hot gases from production. By achieving a 77% waste heat recovery utilization rate this year, Epsilon Carbon met its targets and avoided over 89,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions by cutting reliance on coal-based power.
The company also achieved an 8.13% reduction in Scope 3 emissions intensity compared with FY 2024–25. This work forms part of Epsilon Carbon’s broader effort to improve performance across its value chain and support more sustainable manufacturing for its customers.
Epsilon Carbon’s Vijayanagar plant has an annual capacity of 215,000 tons of carbon black and 500,000 tons per annum of specialty carbon capacity. These capabilities enable the company to serve a broad range of applications across tyres, rubber products, manufacturing and other high-performance industrial sectors.
The report also details Epsilon Carbon’s work to create a safer and more inclusive workplace. The company recorded zero fatalities with women representation of 10% in the Board and 9.41% of overall workforce during the year.
Through its CSR programs, Epsilon Carbon positively impacted approximately 140,000 lives, supporting community development and social progress in the areas connected to its operations.
Vikram Handa, Managing Director, Epsilon Carbon, said “Sustainability is central to how we are building Epsilon Carbon for the future. Our progress in reducing emissions intensity, increasing the use of waste heat recovery and improving energy efficiency shows what is possible when sustainability is built into everyday operations.
Our customers in tyres, rubber and other manufacturing sectors are also working towards more responsible and efficient value chains. We are committed to supporting them through dependable products, strong manufacturing capabilities and continued innovation. Alongside our environmental priorities, we remain focused on safety, inclusion and creating a positive impact in the communities where we operate.”
