Kirloskar Pneumatic Company has unveiled Tonalli, a decentralised waste-to-energy system designed to convert organic food waste into biogas and organic fertiliser. This marks a new step in India’s push toward circular economy infrastructure.

The company described the launch as a strategic milestone in its sustainability roadmap.

“The inauguration marks a significant milestone in our journey towards enabling greener energy alternatives and supporting India’s transition towards a circular and sustainable economy.”

Built around controlled anaerobic digestion, Tonalli processes food waste into usable biogas while also generating organic fertiliser, aiming for what the company calls “100% waste-utilisation.”

The system integrates multiple engineering layers, including biogas-based agitation that removes the need for mechanical mixers, multi-stage gas cleaning for moisture and H₂S removal, and a pressurised delivery system powered by an indigenous Kirloskar compressor to ensure stable combustion performance.

Safety has also been positioned as a core design element, with PLC-based controls enabling automatic flaring, vacuum protection, and layered pressure relief systems.

The event saw participation from senior industry figures from the Hadapsar Industrial Estate, including M.A Tejani - Managing Director of Gits Food Products Private Limited, Jaisinh Sampat - Founder and Managing Director of Pune Gas Systems Private Limited, Arun Kudale - Chairman & Managing Director of Kudale Instruments Private Limited.

Also present were Vijay Suttatti - Director at Suttatti Enterprises Private Limited, and Nuriel Pezarkar, Technology Partner of this initiative, from NobleExchange Environment Solutions Private Limited.

Speaking at the event, technology partner Nuriel Pezarkar emphasized the system’s measurable environmental impact, stating: "Tonalli with BioBit Technology is more than a machine. It is a compact, plug and play solution where every installation is equivalent to thousands of trees planted, LPG replaced, and carbon credits earned — measurable & demonstrable metrics that speak to environmental responsibility, circularity and economic value.”

The launch comes as India implements updated Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026, effective April 1, mandating stricter segregation and decentralised waste processing—an area Tonalli is explicitly designed to address.

Kirloskar Pneumatic says the solution is intended to help organisations turn compliance requirements into operational value by converting continuous organic waste streams into usable energy.
