Strong sustainable product growth in 2025 report
PPG Industries has unveiled its 2025 Sustainability Report, showing steady progress toward its 2030 environmental and social targets, with gains across emissions reduction, sustainable product sales, and responsible sourcing.
The company reported a sharp rise in demand for sustainably advantaged products, alongside measurable cuts in greenhouse gas emissions across its operations and supply chain, plus continued investment in innovation, workforce development, and community programs.
“Sustainability is a core element of our enterprise growth strategy and a critical driver of customer productivity,” said Peter Votruba-Drzal. “By embedding sustainability into how we innovate and operate, we are delivering measurable value for our customers through high-performing, efficient solutions while strengthening our competitive position and advancing progress toward our 2030 commitments.”
Anchored by science-based targets, PPG says its decarbonization strategy is accelerating across both operations and the wider value chain, while its portfolio of lower-impact products continues to expand—helping customers reduce energy use, emissions, water consumption, and waste.
Key results in the 2025 report underline the pace of progress:
* 43% of sales now come from sustainably advantaged products, reflecting strong demand for lower-impact solutions, including advanced powder and electrocoat technologies that reduce energy use and emissions.
* 25% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions versus 2019, driven by energy efficiency, renewable electricity, and process optimization.
* 5% reduction in Scope 3 emissions across purchased goods, product use, and end-of-life treatment, supported by deeper supplier engagement and improved data quality.
* 29% reduction in water intensity at priority water-stressed sites, surpassing the company’s 2030 water stewardship goal.
* 100% of key suppliers assessed against sustainability and social responsibility standards, reinforcing responsible sourcing and human rights oversight.
* $18.1 million invested in communities in 2025, alongside a $15 million commitment to extend the COLORFUL COMMUNITIES program through 2035.
The report also highlights faster innovation cycles powered by digital tools and AI, alongside ongoing focus on safety, employee engagement, and organizational culture.
