The award spotlights technologies reshaping the coatings sector through gains in performance, sustainability, and application efficiency

PPG Industries has been named a winner at the 2026 Ringier Technology Innovation Awards, with its PPG ENVIRO-PRIME EPIC low-temperature cure electro-coat primer taking home the “Innovative Coating of the Year” title in Minhang, Shanghai.

The award spotlights technologies reshaping the coatings sector through gains in performance, sustainability, and application efficiency. PPG’s EPIC e-coat was recognized for combining corrosion protection and process efficiency with stronger environmental performance across automotive and industrial uses.

The product’s low curing temperatures are a key differentiator, helping manufacturers cut energy consumption and CO₂ emissions while still maintaining durability and high-quality finishes. Its broad operating window also gives producers greater flexibility across substrates and manufacturing processes—supporting higher productivity with lower resource use and a shift toward low-carbon production.

“The award recognizes the performance, sustainability and energy efficiency of PPG Enviro-Prime EPIC e-coat and its ability to help customers address evolving manufacturing needs while supporting environmental goals,” said Becky Liu, PPG regional strategic marketing manager, Specialty Products & Services (SPS), Automotive OEM Coatings.

Liu presented the technology at the Ringier event, outlining its technical innovation, market relevance, product design and real-world applications. The presentation drew strong engagement from industry attendees, underscoring rising demand for low-temperature curing and sustainably advantaged coating solutions across automotive and industrial manufacturing.
