thyssenkrupp Uhde has secured pre-FEED contracts from Fuella AS to advance two major green ammonia developments in Brazil, marking a significant step toward large-scale renewable fuel production in Latin America.

The agreements cover the Pecém Green Ammonia Project (PeGA) at the Port of Pecém and the Açu Green Ammonia Project (AçuGA) at the Port of Açu. Each facility is planned to produce 400,000 tonnes per year of green ammonia, fully powered by renewable energy, with a combined target output of 800,000 tpa.

The pre-FEED phase will focus on refining the technical concept, advancing engineering work, and strengthening the commercial case. The projects will be built around Uhde’s ammonia synthesis technology and its RHAMFS methodology, with full integration engineering across electrolysis systems, balance of plant, and ammonia offloading infrastructure.

The aim is a fully integrated design optimized for efficiency, scalability, and competitive project economics as Fuella moves its first Brazilian developments toward execution readiness.

Nadja Håkansson, Member of the Executive Board / COO of thyssenkrupp Decarbon Technologies & CEO of thyssenkrupp Uhde: “We are proud to partner with Fuella in advancing these two landmark green ammonia projects in Brazil.

"With our proven ammonia technology and strong integration capabilities, we will enable reliable and efficient ammonia production based on renewable energy. This collaboration highlights our shared ambition to accelerate the global energy transition and to establish large-scale, sustainable solutions for future ammonia markets.”

Thorsten Helms, Managing Director of Fuella AS, said: “For our two first projects in Brazil, we are very pleased to work with such a renowned company. thyssenkrupp Uhde convinced us not only with their technical leadership, but also with their knowledge of the local context and willingness to truly partner up with us on these promising projects”.

The partnership underscores growing momentum in green ammonia as industrial-scale decarbonization projects move from concept into execution planning, with Brazil emerging as a key hub for renewable hydrogen and ammonia development.
