The Advanced Materials business of Aditya Birla Chemicals (Thailand) Limited and UK-based Plaswire Ltd have signed an MoU to jointly develop sustainable recycling solutions for thermoset composite waste across key global markets.

 

The collaboration combines Aditya Birla’s expertise in advanced epoxy technologies with Plaswire’s capabilities in developing commercial solutions for waste products, with the aim of creating scalable recycling ecosystems for composites at the end of their useful life.

 

Thermoset composites are widely used in wind energy, transportation, construction, aerospace and industrial manufacturing because of their strength, durability and lightweight properties. But their permanent chemical structure makes conventional recycling difficult, leaving end-of-life materials largely destined for landfills or incineration.

 

Aditya Birla’s proprietary Recyclamine technology is designed to address this challenge by enabling the separation and recovery of reinforcing fibres and polymer resin, allowing both components to be recycled.

 

The companies said their collaboration will focus on establishing recycling systems that support material recovery and resource efficiency while helping advance the composites industry towards a circular economy.
