The move marks a push to modernize back-office functions and boost productivity across Japan’s industrial sector.
Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation and Accenture Japan have formed a new joint venture aimed at reshaping corporate operations through AI-driven transformation.
The move marks a push to modernize back-office functions and boost productivity across Japan’s industrial sector.
The new company, RIX Business Partners Corporation, was created through Mitsubishi Chemical’s wholly owned subsidiary DIA-RIX and will serve as the engine for an AI-enabled corporate operations platform spanning Mitsubishi Chemical’s domestic offices and manufacturing sites.
At the core of the venture is a next-generation digital platform designed to overhaul general affairs functions—including administrative services and facility management—by embedding AI into everyday operations.
The goal is to increase standardization, improve visibility across sites, and enable more agile workforce adaptation, while freeing employees to focus on higher-value work.
Mitsubishi Chemical says the initiative reflects a broader transformation philosophy centered on human capital and organizational connectivity.
“This business support transformation is grounded in Mitsubishi Chemical’s commitment to maximizing the value of human capital and our transformation philosophy centered on ‘connecting’ capabilities across the organization,” said Isao Yano, Managing Executive Officer, Chief Compliance Officer, Mitsubishi Chemical.
“By leveraging digital technologies to reconnect operations, people, and data in a cross functional manner, we will create an environment in which our people can focus on higher value added business and manufacturing activities, while enhancing the sustainability of operations and long term enterprise value across the Mitsubishi Chemical Group.”
Accenture framed the move as part of a broader shift away from incremental change toward full operating-model reinvention.
“As the foundations of operating models continue to shift, companies must move beyond incremental change and rethink how work gets done, “said Mitsuru Nagata, Senior Managing Director, Digital Core lead, Japan, Accenture.
“Through this joint venture, we will combine careful reassessment of operations with the practical use of AI and digital technologies to help Mitsubishi Chemical turn strategy into action and take a leading position in the chemical industry. Utilising our proven expertise in delivering business reinvention, we will work with the firm to deliver effective, industry specific operational transformation and help establish new ways of working for the next era.”
The joint venture, officially established on May 1, 2026, is headquartered in Tokyo’s Marunouchi district at the Palace Building.
The move underscores Mitsubishi Chemical’s broader evolution from traditional chemical manufacturing toward a digitally enabled, AI-supported operating model designed for long-term productivity gains and workforce transformation.
