Quantinuum and Aramco seal pact to explore quantum computing for energy industry
Under the MOU, the companies plan to begin preliminary technical onboarding and exchange knowledge and expertise

Quantinuum and Aramco have signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MOU) to explore how quantum computing could tackle complex challenges across the energy sector and support the industry’s digital transformation.
The agreement brings together Quantinuum, a leading quantum computing company, and Aramco, one of the world’s leading integrated energy and chemicals companies, to examine industrial use cases, strengthen quantum computing capabilities and lay the groundwork for a potential research collaboration focused on fault-tolerant quantum computing.
Under the MOU, the companies plan to begin preliminary technical onboarding and exchange knowledge and expertise. They will also identify challenges within Aramco’s operations that could be suited to quantum computing research, with a particular focus on complex problems in energy and digital transformation.
The partnership will assess how future generations of quantum systems could address scientific and industrial challenges while benchmarking different quantum computing approaches.
For Aramco, the collaboration builds on existing efforts to strengthen its position in the application of advanced quantum technologies within the energy industry. It also supports the company’s broader digital transformation initiatives and its contribution to the emerging quantum computing roadmap for the energy sector.
