Tech giant targets EV & healthcare breakthroughs

Dai Nippon Printing Co is set to deepen its global innovation push, announcing plans to launch a new research and development hub in Telangana this April 2026—its second overseas base following a recent expansion into the Netherlands.

The Japanese technology giant is betting big on India’s talent pipeline, teaming up with Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH), one of the country’s premier science and engineering institutions. The collaboration will focus on mobility and medical healthcare—two strategic growth pillars for DNP.

The new facility will be located within the university’s Technology Research Park, a move designed to fast-track innovation by merging academic expertise with industrial capabilities.

In mobility, DNP is targeting the future of electric vehicles with next-generation wireless power supply systems. Already holding a dominant global position in battery pouch materials for EV lithium-ion batteries, the company is now pushing into advanced mobility solutions.

At the Telangana base, DNP and IITH will jointly develop wireless charging technologies using DNP’s proprietary sheet-type coil technology—aimed at supporting a future shaped by autonomous driving and seamless energy transfer.

The partnership will also tackle pharmaceutical innovation, focusing on developing new synthesis routes for active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). Drawing on deep expertise from its group company, DNP plans to streamline the process from design to mass production.

Looking ahead, DNP is positioning India as a critical node in its global API development network, with ambitions to commercialize research outcomes and expand sales both locally and internationally.

With this move, DNP signals a clear strategy: tap into India’s scientific ecosystem to accelerate innovation—and compete at the cutting edge of mobility and healthcare worldwide.
