The global chemical logistics and supply chain market size is estimated to be valued at around US$ 1.4 trillion in 2021, according to a report by Mordor Intelligence. It is expected to grow at a CAGR of around 6% from 2021 to 2026.

In India, the chemical logistics and supply chain market is also experiencing significant growth. According to a report by Grand View Research, the Indian chemical logistics market was valued at approximately US$ 4.85 billion in 2020 and is projected to reach US$ 12.35 billion by 2028, growing at a CAGR of 12.3% from 2021 to 2028.

India is the third-largest producer of chemicals in Asia and the sixth largest in the world, contributing around 7% to the country’s GDP. The market size of the Indian chemicals industry is expected to grow from US$ 220 billion in 2022 to US$ 800 billion - US $1 trillion by 2040, offering a huge growth opportunity.

Gujarat is a prominent hub for the Chemical industry in India with over 11,000 chemical units in the state. The state has achieved remarkable growth in the Chemical and Petrochemical sector over the years. Gujarat has established itself as the petro capital and petro hub of India, owing to its robust industrial and logistics infrastructure. Gujarat boasts well-developed industrial infrastructure, including ports, roads, and power supply, which are essential for the Chemical sector.

Gujarat has been playing a crucial role in the country's overall Chemical production. Various reports suggest that Gujarat currently contributes around 35 per cent to the national output of Chemicals and aims to become a hub for Specialty Chemicals. It has over 55 per cent share of India’s Petrochemical production and 45 per cent of Pharmaceutical production.

The state accounts for approximately 75 percent of the production of dyes and intermediates. The state has significant manufacturing capabilities with numerous industrial clusters and parks dedicated to chemical production.

Gujarat is one of the largest contributors to India's chemical exports, accounting for 31 per cent of the total exports of Chemicals and Petrochemicals from the country in the year 2023-24.

Gujarat Chem & PetChem Conference 2025 is a step towards exploring the current opportunities in the Chemicals and Petrochemicals sectors in the state and how these can be translated into reality.
