L&T bags major Middle East BESS order
Adds 6 GWh of storage capacity

L&T’s Renewables business vertical has secured a major order to develop three Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects for a prominent client in the Middle East, strengthening its position in the region’s rapidly expanding energy storage market.
The three projects will deliver a combined 6 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of storage capacity, marking a significant step in grid modernisation and the integration of renewable energy across the region.
L&T’s scope extends beyond the storage systems to include critical grid-interconnection infrastructure, including pooling substations and underground cables.
Each project will feature a 4-hour BESS designed to store and dispatch electricity when required, helping stabilise the grid and integrate increasing volumes of renewable power. The systems will enable energy shifting by storing surplus clean electricity generated during off-peak periods and releasing it during periods of peak demand.
The BESS installations will use liquid-cooling technology, designed to support higher power density while improving safety and extending the systems’ operational life.
The projects will also demand tight execution across plant performance, workforce mobilisation, safety, quality and delivery schedules.
The order underscores the confidence placed in L&T’s engineering and project-management capabilities and further cements its role as a major EPC player in the Middle East’s fast-growing energy-storage sector.
