Battery technology is evolving rapidly to meet demands for higher energy density, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness in applications like electric vehicles (EVs), grid storage, and consumer electronics. Advancements in battery materials and new chemistries focus on improving performance, safety, and environmental impact. These are driving higher performance and sustainability. Recycling is crucial for resource recovery and environmental benefits. These developments are critical for a sustainable energy future.

Advancements in battery technology include new chemistries like LFP, NMC, and NCA, along with solid-state batteries and graphene batteries, offering improved energy density and safety. Reducing reliance on scarce materials (e.g., cobalt and lithium) through alternative chemistries and recycling is critical. Scaling recycling infrastructure to handle growing battery waste requires policy support and economic incentives.

Semiconductor advancements focus on increased efficiency, power, and miniaturization of devices. The development of advanced transistors and other components to enable higher speed and lower power consumption.

Collaborative efforts in R&D, policy, and industry are essential to overcome technical and economic challenges, ensuring batteries power a cleaner future. These advancements are paving the way for more powerful, reliable, and efficient energy storage solutions, as well as more advanced and compact electronic devices.

Points to be discussed during the panel discussion are: Cathode materials, anode materials, and solid-state electrolytes; Lithium-Sulfur, Sodium-Ion batteries, and Metal-Air batteries; Semiconductor advancements; Hydrometallurgy and pyrometallurgy; Direct recycling; Closed-Loop systems; and Sustainability and challenges.

Speakers for the Session are: Dr. Mayukh G. Warawdekar, Vice President, Fine Organic industries Ltd.; Rajiv Rao, Business Head - EV, GFCL EV Products Ltd.; Kalpesh Pandya, Vice President - Technology & Integration, Epsilon Advanced Materials Pvt. Ltd.; Darshit Jaju, Head – Battery & Renewable Energy, Hindalco Industries Ltd.; Hemant Waghela, Country Manager - Adsorbents India, Clariant India Pvt. Ltd.; and Ambuj Mishra, AVP & Business Head- Advanced Materials, Navin Fluorine International Ltd. The moderator of the Session is Sehul Bhatt, Director- Research, Crisil Intelligence.
