Aarti Industries Limited (AIL) has commissioned Phase I of its Zone IV project at Jhagadia, Gujarat, marking a major step in its strategy to expand downstream integration, diversify its product portfolio and capture opportunities in high-value specialty chemicals.

The first phase brings three key capabilities on stream: Calcium Chloride, PEDA (2-Phenyl Ethyl Diethyl Aniline) and part of the Multipurpose Plant (MPP). The new facilities are designed to support niche, high-value products across agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, coatings, polymers and energy & additives.

AIL said several products planned under Zone IV are expected to be manufactured in India for the first time, potentially strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities and reducing reliance on overseas supply chains.

PEDA extends the company's existing ethylation platform downstream, building on its established 2,6-Diethyl Aniline capabilities and expanding its presence in value-added products, primarily serving agrochemical applications.

The new Calcium Chloride facility strengthens AIL's Energy & Additives portfolio, targeting applications across oilfield and energy-related markets. Meanwhile, the Multipurpose Plant is expected to give the company greater flexibility to move pilot-validated processes into commercial-scale production across multiple products and advanced chemistries.

With Phase I now commissioned, AIL will turn its focus to commercial qualification, customer approvals and a disciplined ramp-up of the new assets.

Suyog Kotecha, Chief Executive Officer, Aarti Industries Limited, said: "Commissioning of Phase I of Zone IV marks an important milestone in Aarti Industries' growth journey. Zone IV has been conceived as a flexible platform that allows us to deepen integration, diversify applications, and progressively add high-value, niche products to our portfolio.

"PEDA extends our existing value chain further downstream, Calcium Chloride strengthens our offering in Energy & Additives, while the Multipurpose Plant enhances our ability to take new chemistries from pilot to commercial scale. Several products planned from the platform are expected to be manufactured in India for the first time, strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities while creating new opportunities for our customers. We remain on track to progressively commercialise all the manufacturing blocks within Zone IV during this fiscal year."

The broader Zone IV platform comprises multiple chemistry blocks and has been designed to manufacture a diverse range of products, giving AIL flexibility to respond to emerging opportunities in both domestic and international markets.

The project also strengthens the company's integrated R&D, scale-up and manufacturing ecosystem, positioning Zone IV as a key component of AIL's long-term specialty chemicals growth strategy.
