AkzoNobel Aerospace Coatings has completed a major phase of its €22 million investment at its Pamiers production site in France, boosting manufacturing capacity, upgrading technical capabilities and advancing the site's sustainability goals.
The latest milestone forms part of a wider development programme aimed at strengthening AkzoNobel's European aerospace coatings operations. Once complete, the upgraded facility will expand production capacity, improve operational efficiency and support the development of next-generation coating technologies to meet growing customer demand.
A central element of the expansion is a new warehouse providing more than 2,000m² of additional storage space for raw materials and finished products. The facility includes advanced temperature-controlled storage cells designed to improve product preservation and streamline inventory management.
AkzoNobel has also completed a new 638m² waste management facility equipped with next-generation sprinkler systems featuring zoned automatic detection and controlled intervention technology to enhance operational safety.
The investment also includes significant upgrades to the site's Quality Control and Production Services. Four new application cabins have been installed within the Quality Control department, alongside a dedicated cabin for chromate products featuring specialised insulation and secure airlock access.
Eight new laboratory benches with integrated extraction hoods have also been added, increasing Quality Control capacity by 166%.
Manufacturing capabilities have been further strengthened through the installation of new precision weighing systems, additional paint tanks and a new automatic beads mill dedicated to producing next-generation non-chromate coatings.
A redesigned production layout and improved work organisation are also expected to increase operational flexibility and manufacturing efficiency.
