Berkshire Hathaway has completed its $9.7 billion acquisition of OxyChem from Occidental, cementing control of one of North America’s most important chemical producers.
The deal, which remains subject to customary post-closing purchase price adjustments, brings OxyChem’s extensive US, Canadian, and Latin American operations under the Berkshire umbrella. Headquartered in Dallas, OxyChem ranks among the top three U.S. manufacturers of polyvinyl chloride, chlor-alkali and chlorinated organic chemicals, as well as calcium chloride.
OxyChem’s products are deeply embedded in daily life, supplying critical materials for water treatment, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, manufacturing, automotive production, personal hygiene, and residential and commercial construction.
The company will continue to operate under its existing leadership, with Wade Alleman remaining as president and chief executive officer.
