Duro Lam Ltd has moved the Ministry of Environment and Forests for environmental clearance to its plans for expansion of its resin plant for manufacturing laminated sheets at its existing unit at Rajpur in Gujarat\'s Mehsana district.

In its presentation to the Ministry for environmental clearance, the company said that it intends to produce 300000 laminated sheets per month and 985 MTPM of phenol formaldehyde resins and melamine formaldehyde resins.
The total cost of the expansion plan of the project is Rs 3 crore.
The total land area of the unit is 8451 sq m. The greenbelt area is 2788.83 sq m.
The company said the unit will maintain an updated copy of onsite emergency action plan providing details pertaining to hazards and risk associated with the process and raw materials and guidelines for handling emergency situations.
In its presentation, it said there has not been any negative impact on the environment due to the project.
On the contrary, there has been positive impact on the socio-economic environment and the project has generated some permanent and secondary employment and increased direct and indirect employment opportunities, the company said.
\"The expansion project will generate direct employment to 64 people from the vicinity of Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad and nearby villages.\"
It said there are no reserve forest areas or sensitive places around the plant and no protected forest near the site. There are no national parks, wildlife sanctuaries, reserve forests or important installations nearby, it said.
The company said it will adopt all safety and hazard identification measures besides a strong disaster management policy.
\"The expansion of project is for manufacturing of resin for captive consumption. Considering the project size, the pollution scenario, the infrastructure to mitigate the impacts on environment and the benefits, the proposed project is feasible at the project location,\" Duro Lam Ltd said.
