Evonik is ramping up its growth strategy by strengthening its global production infrastructure for hydroxyl-terminated polybutadienes (HTPB).

The move follows major investments over the past two years, including the expansion of HTPB capacity at its Marl site in 2024 and the launch of a POLYVEST ST-E 60 polybutadiene facility in Shanghai in 2025.

Construction is now underway to significantly boost output at Evonik’s German site, with operations set to begin in the second quarter of 2027. At the same time, the company has kicked off the engineering phase for a new production facility in Asia.

“The location for this new plant has been selected based on the strategic opportunity to leverage synergies with Evonik´s existing assets,” said Jürgen Herwig, Head of Evonik’s polybutadienes business.

Anna Maria Ickert, Head of Evonik Coating & Adhesive Resins, emphasized the company’s commitment to customers: “These investments demonstrate the company’s ongoing commitment to meeting the growing global demand by supporting our customers with enhanced reliability and proximity of supply.”

The expansions underscore Evonik’s focus on innovation, global reach, and ensuring a dependable supply of high-performance materials for customers worldwide.
