GACL plans mega expansion projects

The company is planning a mega expansion plan with respect to chemicals such as Caustic Soda, Chloromethanes, Phosphoric Acid, Hydrazine Hydrate and Chlorotoluene.

The Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited (GACL) is planning a mega expansion plan with respect to chemicals such as Caustic Soda, Chloromethanes, Phosphoric Acid, Hydrazine Hydrate and Chlorotoluene. 
 
The company has already planned a Caustic Soda Plant with Coal Based Power Plant in a Joint Venture with NALCO (GACL - 60% and NALCO - 40%). The cost of the plant is Rs. 2,000 crore and as per status - Caustic Soda is 87% complete whereas Power Plant is 72% complete. Another Caustic Soda Expansion at Dahej and Coal Based Power Plant has a capacity of 525 TPD and 65 MW is 12% complete and will cost Rs. 875 crore. 
 
Expansion Projects at Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited (GACL) 
1. Caustic Soda New Plant with Coal Based Power Plant (JV with NALCO) 
Capacity - 800 TPD + 130 MW
Cost - Rs. 2,000 crore 
Progress Status* - CS Plant - 87%, Power Plant - 72% (Including Common Infrastructure ) 
 
2. Chloromethanes Plant at Dahej 
Capacity - 300 TPD 
Cost - Rs. 800 crore 
Progress Status* - 66% 
 
3. Phosphoric Acid (New) 
Capacity - 100 TPD 
Cost - Rs. 390 crore 
Progress Status* - 12%
 
4. Hydrazine Hydrate 
Capacity - 30 TPD 
Cost - Rs. 405.50 Cr 
Progress Status* - 50%
 
5. Chlorotoluene Plant at Dahej
Capacity - 120 TPD 
Cost - Rs. 120 Cr
Progress Status* - To be Implemented 
 
6. Caustic Soda Expansion at Dahej and Coal Based Power Plant
Capacity - 525 TPD and 65 MW 
Cost - Rs. 875 Cr 
Progress Status* - 12%

The Chloromethanes plant at Dahej cost Rs. 800 crore and is 66% complete. The plant has a capacity of 300 TPD. The Phosphoric Acid Plant capacity is 100 TPD and is 12% complete. The Hydrazine Hydrate Plant has a capacity of 30 TPD and is 50% complete. The Chlorotoluene Plant at Dahej is yet to be implemented. The plant will cost Rs. 120 crore and will have a capacity of 120 TPD.
