INEOS Oligomers launches high-purity hydrocarbon olefin to boost olefin performance and storage stability

The product combines high-purity DIB with butylated hydroxytoluene, a widely used antioxidant that helps limit oxidation during storage and maintain product integrity over time

INEOS Oligomers has expanded its global diisobutylene (DIB) portfolio with the launch of DIB99S, a new high-purity hydrocarbon olefin designed to deliver greater stability, performance, and shelf life for demanding industrial applications.

The product—Diisobutylene 99% with BHT—combines high-purity DIB with butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), a widely used antioxidant that helps limit oxidation during storage and maintain product integrity over time.

DIB99S is engineered for applications where purity, controlled reactivity, and long-term stability are critical, with the BHT additive acting as a protective stabilizer against oxidative degradation.

DIB99S reflects INEOS Oligomers’ commitment to providing high-quality, well-stabilized hydrocarbon building blocks for demanding applications,” said Gary Gudac, North American Technical Manager at INEOS Oligomers.

“By combining high-purity diisobutylene with an effective stabilizer, we offer customers a dependable solution that supports both performance and handling requirements.”

The company said Diisobutylene 99S features an industry-leading level of 2,4,4-trimethylpentene-1 (TMP1), a key structural component that enhances its value as a reactive intermediate.

Produced via isobutene dimerization, the product is positioned for use across polymer modification, lubricant additives, and specialty chemical synthesis—applications that demand controlled stability and high TMP1 content.
