Jai Shree Rasayan Udyog Limited has approached the Environment and Forests Ministry for environment clearance to its proposed expansion of its pesticides, insecticides and fungicides unit at Nathupur in Haryana\'s Sonepat district.

Jai Shree Rasayan Udyog Limited has approached the Environment and Forests Ministry for environment clearance to its proposed expansion of its pesticides, insecticides and fungicides unit at Nathupur in Haryana\'s Sonepat district.

Jai Shree is operating a formulation unit for production of pesticides since 1993. It started manufacturing only one product Zinc Sulphate 21 per cent (brand name of Sona Shree) at the beginning. It has another formulation unit in Jammu and Kashmir.

In a letter to the Environment and Forests Ministry, the company said it proposes to manufacture pesticides (technical grade) at its existing formulation unit which will also meet raw material demand of existing formulation unit.

The estimated cost of the proposed project is Rs 6 crore including Rs 90 lakh for pollution control measures.

The unit will produce 33 pesticides, insecticides and fungicides products with a cumulative capacity of 1360 MTPA.

The total land area after the expansion is Rs 8550 sq m of which 2850 sq m will be for greenbelt development.

The company said a total of 92 raw materials will be required which will be procured indigenously and imported.

There are no rehabilitation and resettlement areas near the plant site. Also no state and national boundary exist within 15 km radius from the plant boundary and there are no reserve forests in the 10-km radius, the company said.

There are also no historical places, archaeological sites, wildlife sanctuaries or national parks within a 10 km radius from the project site.

In its presentation, the company said there will not be any major potential for negative impact on the environment due to the proposed project. It said it will adopt all hazard identification measures and ensure safety and provide all medical facilities to its employees.

The company proposes to manufacture the following products:

Weedicides: 2, 4-D Ethyl Ester technical, Glyphosate technical, Pretilachlor technical, Butachlor, Colodinafob-propergyl/Pyroxifob-propinyl, Imizathypr, Fenoxaprop-p ethyl, Bispyribac Sodium.

Insecticides: Imidacloprid, Acetamiprid,  Thiomethoxam, Cypermethrin, Alfacypermethrin, Lambdacyhalothrin, D-Trans Allethrin, Chlorpyrifos, Profenophos, Flubendiamide, Fipronil, Buprofezin, Novaluron, Curazin, Pericycuron, Chlorantranilprole, Dichlorovos.

Fungicides: Tricyclazole, Tebuconazole, Hexaconazole, Propiconazole, Difenconazole, Flutrilafol, Acephate.

Intermediate: MPBD.

The company said it has a manpower requirement of 65, including 20 contract workers.
