KLJ Group, a leading player in the chemical/plasticizers industry, has invested Rs. 1,200 crore (US $145 million) and commissioned Plasticizers & Phthalic Anhydride production facility (BIS certified) at the GIDC Jhagadia Industrial Estate, Bharuch, Gujarat.

This integrated manufacturing facility represents a significant milestone in KLJ Group's commitment to expanding its product portfolio and meeting the growing demands of the market.

The facility has a production capacity of 300,000 MT of Phthalate Plasticizers, 100,000 MT of Phthalic Anhydride, 3,500 MT of Maleic Anhydride, and 700 MT of Benzoic Acid annually.

By incorporating a Phthalic Anhydride (PA) unit at the Jhagadia complex, KLJ Group has achieved backward integration for the first time in India, enabling the company to utilize approximately 70-75% of Phthalic Anhydride produced for captive consumption.

Phthalic Anhydride serves as a vital chemical intermediate in the production of Phthalate Plasticizers (DOP, DINP, DBP, etc.); Copper Phthalocyanine (CPC); Di-Ethyl Phthalate (DEP); Unsaturated Polyester Resin (UPR); Paints; PU Adhesives; and various other applications including Pharmaceuticals, Leather, Paper, Dyes, and Saccharine.

Plasticizers play a crucial role in enhancing the flexibility, softness, and overall properties of plastics and other materials.

KLJ Group has future plans to introduce additional specialty products at its Silvassa plant, ensuring optimal utilization of the installed capacity, and expanding its product offerings to cater to diverse market needs.

The company has kept provisions for future expansions; however, the specific scale and timing of these expansions will depend on prevailing market conditions. With the demand for Plasticizers and Phthalic Anhydride now reaching Pre-Covid levels and experiencing an organic growth rate of 6-8% annually, KLJ Group anticipates a promising outlook for its products in the near future.
