LANXESS raises prices for sulfur-based products

Ongoing geopolitical tensions have led to significantly higher costs in particular for sulfur, logistic and energy costs

  • By ICN Bureau | April 06, 2026

Specialty chemicals company LANXESS is raising the prices of its Advanced Industrial Intermediates business unit’s sulfur-based products by an average of 40 per cent with immediate effect. The affected products include sulfuric acid, oleum and sodium bisulfite, among others.

Ongoing geopolitical tensions have led to significantly higher costs in particular for sulfur, logistic and energy costs. That requires a price adjustment outside the regular schedule.

Despite intensive efforts to maintain stable prices, an adjustment is necessary to ensure the long-term reliability and sustainability of supplies.
