Lone Star to acquire DOMO Chemicals’ engineered materials biz in major specialty polymers deal

The transaction spans the full Engineered Materials division, including three European manufacturing sites

DOMO Chemicals has announced that an affiliate of Lone Star Funds has agreed to acquire its Engineered Materials (EM) business, marking a significant reshaping of the company’s polymers portfolio.

The transaction spans the full Engineered Materials division, including three European manufacturing sites in Premnitz (Germany), Arco (Italy), and Gorzów (Poland), along with support functions across Belgium, Germany, Spain, Poland and India. It also covers international operations in Haiyan (China), Mumbai (India), Seoul (South Korea) and Buford (United States).

Beyond manufacturing, the deal pulls in key commercial and technical assets: sales and marketing teams in France, the Lyon application center focused on engineering materials science, and downstream application development and testing capabilities. It also includes masterbatch industrial activities and associated technical and administrative functions.

Crucially, Lone Star Funds has also acquired the intellectual property portfolio of the DOMO EM business, including the TECHNYL brand, a well-established portfolio providing polyamide compounds (PA6 and PA66) solutions to the technical polymers market for more than 70 years.

One notable exception: the Belle Étoile production assets are excluded from the deal and remain subject to a separate legal process under court-appointed administrators.

The acquisition builds on Lone Star’s earlier purchase of RadiciGroup’s High Performance Polymers and Specialty Chemicals businesses, further cementing its position in the specialty polymers sector.

The combined platform is expected to deliver a broader and more complementary product portfolio, wider geographic footprint, and stronger capabilities across end markets including automotive, construction, consumer goods, and industrial applications.

Leadership continuity is being maintained through the transition. The DOMO EM leadership team will, in due course, report to Jochen Fabritius, who has been appointed by Lone Star to lead the future organisation.
