Global specialty chemicals company Lubrizol and fluid conveyance systems manufacturer Polyhose have inaugurated a new medical manufacturing facility in Chennai, marking a significant investment in India’s fast-growing medical technology sector.
The new facility will produce precision extruded medical tubing used in minimally invasive medical devices, including critical neurovascular and cardiovascular applications. The investment is expected to strengthen local manufacturing capabilities while supporting growing demand from medical device makers in India and international markets.
Speaking at the inauguration, John Valukas, President, Lubrizol Engineered Materials, highlighted the strategic importance of the project.
“Today’s inauguration is an important milestone in Lubrizol’s commitment to India and to supporting our customers in the global medical device industry. By combining Lubrizol’s medical device expertise with the manufacturing strength of local partners in India, this facility will deliver advanced tubing solutions for life-saving neurovascular and cardiovascular applications.
"Our goal is to help our customers bring these critical technologies to patients faster, with reliable local supply and the highest quality standards.”
The Chennai facility has been established as an ISO13485-certified operation, providing customers with a dependable source of high-quality medical tubing supported by dedicated quality control systems and manufacturing standards aligned with Lubrizol’s global network.
The plant will manufacture precision extruded tubing using a range of high-performance materials, including polyamides, nylon, Pebax, polypropylene, polyethylene and Lubrizol’s medical-grade thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU).
The launch underscores Lubrizol’s broader strategy to deepen its presence in India, a market it views as a key driver of future growth.
