LyondellBasell, a global leader in the chemical industry, has announced the expansion of its long-standing collaboration with Polynt, a worldwide expert in specialty polymers and intermediates. Together, they are developing a high-quality resin for the marine industry that utilizes the LYB Styrene +LC (low carbon) solution.

LYB +LC solutions are produced using a mass balance approach certified by the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS system. Sourced from bio-circular feedstocks, these products help businesses reduce their scope 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions while maintaining the performance, reliability, and quality essential for modern living.

“Our +LC solutions deliver a reduced carbon footprint compared to equivalent fossil-based products, enabling businesses like Polynt to meet their sustainability goals while maintaining the high quality their customers expect,” said Francesca Faranda, Senior Account Manager at LYB.

Polynt is using LYB Styrene +LC to produce resins specifically designed for the construction of boats and yachts. These next-generation resins deliver exceptional durability, strength, and performance, while significantly reducing the product’s carbon footprint—an important advancement as the marine industry moves toward lower-carbon solutions.

“Polynt’s commitment to sustainable industrial growth is at the heart of our business strategy. In response to the latest market demands, regulatory requirements, and stakeholder expectations, we are driving innovation in the thermosetting composites industry through eco-design, material optimization, and circular manufacturing models. By fostering long-term collaboration with LYB—one of our key supplier partners—as well as with industry players and research institutions, we are reinforcing our technological leadership while ensuring environmental responsibility and market competitiveness. This approach allows us to anticipate evolving regulations, meet the growing demand for sustainable solutions, and deliver resilient, value-driven results across the entire value chain,” said Maurizio Leonardi, Executive Vice President for Europe at Polynt.
