The business is now under significant pressure in terms of profitability due to a decline in printing demand
Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (MCC) has decided to withdraw from the polyester resin for printer toner manufacturing business.
The company has been engaged in the polyester resin for printer toner manufacturing business since 1989. However, the business is now under significant pressure in terms of profitability due to a decline in printing demand driven by the shift toward paperless operations and changes in workstyles following the COVID-19 pandemic, combined with the recent sharp rise in raw material prices and increasing labor costs.
Amid these challenges, MCC has implemented a range of measures, such as streamlining operations and reducing fixed costs. Nevertheless, after a thorough review of the surrounding business environment, MCC has decided to withdraw from the business, as there is limited prospects for improving profitability or achieving future growth.
