Global specialty chemicals leader Nouryon is accelerating its push into Asia’s high-growth industrial sectors, announcing a major expansion of premium Levasil colloidal silica production at its Guangzhou manufacturing site in Guangzhou.
The move targets surging demand across fast-evolving industries—from emissions control catalysts to electrical steel and non-stick cookware coatings—positioning the company closer to customers and slashing delivery times.
By localizing supply, Nouryon aims to give manufacturers faster, more reliable access to high-performance materials critical for scaling advanced technologies.
Levasil colloidal silica plays a pivotal role in modern industry. It enables vehicles and industrial systems to meet tightening environmental regulations, boosts energy efficiency in power grid transformers, and enhances the durability of non-stick cookware coatings.
"China's technology-driven industries are moving fast and access to advanced colloidal silica is becoming a competitive necessity for manufacturers pushing the boundaries of what's possible in catalysts and performance coatings," said Patrick Wilhelm, vice president for Growth Accelerator Industrials at Nouryon.
"This investment means our customers can count on us as long-term partners as they scale their most demanding applications."
The expansion underscores the strategic importance of Asia-Pacific, where demand for premium materials is rapidly intensifying—led in large part by China’s industrial momentum.
"Asia Pacific is one of the world’s most dynamic regions for premium colloidal silica and China is a big driver of that growth," said Sobers Sethi, senior vice president for Emerging Markets and China at Nouryon.
“Expanding our production in the region ensures Nouryon is positioned to grow alongside our customers as this market continues to need advanced solutions."
The Guangzhou expansion builds on the company’s recent opening of a major innovation center in Shanghai in November 2025. Featuring eight specialized laboratories—including a dedicated Levasil facility for catalyst technologies—the center signals a broader strategy: deepen customer collaboration, accelerate innovation, and cement long-term growth across Asia-Pacific.
Together, these investments highlight Nouryon’s aggressive bet on advanced specialty chemicals as industries race toward cleaner, more efficient, and higher-performing solutions.
