Olin Corporation, a global leader in Ethylene Dichloride (EDC) supply, announced an important milestone in the execution of its strategic plan, marking a new phase in the company’s participation within the vinyls value chain. As outlined during its Investor Day in December, Olin is evolving its EDC business model with a focus on long-term structural opportunities that create enhanced value and greater flexibility.

As part of this evolution, Olin Corporation and Mitsui & Co., Ltd. have mutually agreed to conclude their joint venture, Blue Water Alliance JV, LLP (BWA), by the end of this year. Moving forward, Olin and Mitsui will continue to collaborate on strategic opportunities under a more flexible framework that aligns with Olin’s growth trajectory in the vinyls market.

“This decision underscores Olin’s commitment to broadening our chlorine derivatives optionality, reducing exposure to the merchant EDC market, and strengthening our participation in vinyls,” said Deon Carter, President of Olin Chlor Alkali Products & Vinyls. “Our partnership with Mitsui has been an innovative alliance that connected the global needs of the industry, and we are proud of what we achieved together. We will continue to maintain a strong and strategic relationship with Mitsui, a trusted and valued partner.”

Olin affirmed that BWA customers will experience a seamless transition as the company remains dedicated to delivering industry-leading products, services, and trading expertise across its full portfolio, including EDC and Caustic Soda.
