PPG launches one-component marine coatings portfolio to simplify onboard maintenance

Coatings maintenance is essential for extending vessel lifecycles

PPG has launched a new portfolio of one-component marine coatings aimed at making onboard vessel maintenance faster, simpler and less wasteful.

Unveiled at the SMM 2026 maritime industry trade fair in Hamburg, the PPG ONE RANGE portfolio comprises five ready-to-use coatings designed to reduce application complexity for crews carrying out maintenance at sea.

The one-component format eliminates the need for mixing and is intended to streamline product preparation, storage and handling while reducing waste.

“Coatings maintenance is essential for extending vessel lifecycles, but preparation and application can be time-consuming for crews managing other operational responsibilities,” said Ewout Bosman, PPG segment director, seastock, Protective and Marine Coatings. “With the PPG One Range portfolio, we focused on eliminating mixing requirements and simplifying application to help crews complete projects more efficiently.”

The portfolio spans waterborne, alkyd and polyurethane technologies for interior and exterior maintenance applications. PPG said the products also incorporate technologies supporting low volatile organic compound (VOC) compliance and low flame spread certification.

“The portfolio includes waterborne, alkyd and polyurethane technologies for both interior and exterior maintenance applications,” said Kahina Ouchaou, PPG product manager, Protective and Marine Coatings. “Products in the portfolio incorporate technologies that support low volatile organic compound (VOC) compliance and low flame spread certification.”

PPG is also previewing the PPG POWERPACK, a portable, battery-powered application tool designed to further improve productivity when used with the new coating portfolio.

“The PPG PowerPack tool allows crews to switch easily between roller and brush application using a single unit, reducing equipment changes and helping improve productivity,” Bosman said. “Together, the PPG One Range portfolio and the PPG PowerPack tool demonstrate how we continue to innovate both inside and outside the can.”

The company said the new portfolio is part of its broader effort to reduce the time, equipment and preparation required for routine onboard coating maintenance.
