Praj Industries has won a contract for a large Ethanol plant in Colombia from Isolux Corsan of Spain who are the main contractors for the project of Bioenergy S.A. Under the contract Praj will supply the main process plant for ethanol production including the concentration of vinasse for use as liquid fertilizer. Bioenergy S.A., who are developing the 480 m3/day sugar to ethanol project in the Los Llanos area of Colombia, is ushering a new agro-industrial development in this remote area of Colombia. Bioenergy is a company that is majority owned by Colombia's national oil company EcoPetrol. The contract value is a little over US$22mn.

The plant is based on PRAJ's cutting edge technology that permits use of very low pressure vapors generated from the juice evaporation area enabling substantial saving of both water and energy. The order forms part of the order book of the Company for the quarter ended June, 2011.

On this occasion, Pramod Chaudhari, Executive Chairman, Praj Industries Limited, said, "This is our biggest order in this region so far. We have successfully commissioned 5 Greenfield plants in Colombia over a decade. This will be our sixth plant. It is indeed a prestigious order for Praj from the Latin American region."
