Sajjan Specialty Ltd proposes new unit

Sajjan Specialty Ltd has proposed a new unit at Vagra in Gujarat’s Bharuch district for manufacture of specialty chemical products and agrochemical intermediates.

Sajjan Specialty Ltd has proposed a new unit at Vagra in Gujarat’s Bharuch district for manufacture of specialty chemical products and agrochemical intermediates.

In a letter to the Ministry of Environment and Forests seeking environmental clearance, the company said the estimated project cost is Rs 100 crore. The total land area is 98,305.8 sq m of which, 20,000 sq m shall be developed as greenbelt.

The company said it intends to manufacture 20,075 tonnes of specialty chemical products and agrochemical intermediates per annum.

\"Taking into consideration proposed project activities and guidelines, an area of 10 km radius from the centre of the project shall be selected and is designated as the study area for the purpose of rapid EIA studies. The samples of ambient air, ground and surface water and soil shall be collected and analysed as per the standard methods for establishing the baseline data and to determine the impact of proposed activity,\" it said.

There are also no national parks and reserve forests, defence installations and ecologically sensitive areas within 10 km radius from the proposed unit, it said.

The company said there will not be any major potential for negative impact on the environment due to the proposed unit.

\"A comprehensive environmental management plan will be prepared covering all the aspects of pollution prevention measures, air and water pollution control measures, hazardous waste management, environmental surveillance and environmental management plan,\" it said.

The company further said it will undertake all hazardous waste generation management measures besides providing all safety and health measures to its employees.

\"Safety awareness training programmes will be arranged regularly for workers in the factory premises. We will also provide flameproof equipment and fittings to workers while handling hazardous chemicals,\" the firm said.
