SH Kelkar logs 78% jump in Q1 FY27 net profit on strong volumes and exceptional gain

SH Kelkar and Company, one of India’s leading manufacturers of fragrances, flavors and aroma ingredients, has reported a sharp 77.8% year-on-year (YoY) increase in consolidated net profit for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026 (Q1 FY27).
 
This, driven by robust volume growth across key business segments and an exceptional gain recorded during the quarter.
 
The company’s consolidated Revenue from Operations rose 14.11% YoY to Rs. 662.42 crore in Q1 FY27, compared with Rs. 580.50 crore in Q1 FY26. On a sequential basis, revenue grew 1.98% from Rs. 649.58 crore in Q4 FY26.
 
Sales revenue stood at Rs. 642.91 crore, compared with Rs. 561.80 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Contract manufacturing sales increased to Rs. 16.86 crore from Rs. 16.63 crore, while other operating income rose to Rs. 2.65 crore from Rs. 2.07 crore.
 
Total income for the quarter stood at Rs. 663.23 crore, marking a 14.09% YoY growth over Rs. 581.31 crore in Q1 FY26.
 
Total expenses increased to Rs. 623.88 crore during the quarter, compared with Rs. 546.87 crore in Q1 FY26, with cost of materials consumed rising to Rs. 389.03 crore from Rs. 340.61 crore.
 
The company recorded a net exceptional gain of Rs. 29.95 crore in Q1 FY27, significantly higher than the Rs. 2.11 crore exceptional gain reported in Q1 FY26, providing a boost to profitability.
 
Consolidated Profit Before Tax (PBT) surged 86.86% YoY to Rs. 68.52 crore, compared with Rs. 36.67 crore in Q1 FY26.
 
Net profit after tax (PAT) climbed to Rs. 45.43 crore, registering a 77.81% YoY increase from Rs. 25.55 crore in Q1 FY26. The company also posted a strong recovery from the Rs. 1.80 crore PAT reported in Q4 FY26.
 
Basic and diluted EPS improved to Rs. 3.28 per share (face value Rs. 10 each), compared with Rs. 1.85 per share in Q1 FY26 and Rs. 13 per share in Q4 FY26.
 
The company’s core segments delivered strong operational performance during the quarter.
 
The Fragrance segment recorded revenue growth of 7.45% YoY to Rs. 547.79 crore, compared with Rs. 509.83 crore in Q1 FY26. Segment PBIT increased 25.48% YoY to Rs. 57.42 crore.
 
The Flavours segment reported a significant 63.24% YoY jump in revenue to Rs. 111.98 crore, compared with Rs. 68.60 crore in Q1 FY26. Segment PBIT surged 161.67% YoY to Rs. 34.20 crore.
 
On a standalone basis, revenue from operations stood at Rs. 337.05 crore, compared with Rs. 339.22 crore in Q1 FY26.
 
The company recognized an exceptional gain of Rs. 29.95 crore during the quarter.
 
Standalone PBT turned positive at Rs. 20.33 crore, compared with Rs. 4.95 crore in Q1 FY26 and a loss of Rs. 0.24 crore in Q4 FY26.
 
Standalone PAT rose 270.98% YoY to Rs. 15.21 crore, compared with Rs. 4.10 crore in Q1 FY26. Standalone EPS stood at Rs. 1.10 per share.
 
Total segment liabilities stood at Rs. 1,707.45 crore as of June 30, 2026.
