SONGWON launches new antioxidant, advancing sustainable polymer additives

Trial quantities are expected to become available from April 2026, with a full market launch planned for the second half of the year

Songwon Industrial, a global leader in specialty chemicals, has taken a major step forward in sustainable sourcing with the certification of its SONGNOX 1076 phenolic antioxidant under the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) Mass Balance (MB) standard.

The RSPO Certificate, issued in January 2026, allows SONGWON to offer SONGNOX 1076 as an RSPO-certified product option for customers seeking more sustainable polymer additive solutions. Trial quantities are expected to become available from April 2026, with a full market launch planned for the second half of the year.

The certification marks SONGWON’s first product to meet RSPO requirements and positions the company as an early mover in delivering RSPO-compliant solutions for the polymer additives industry. The company also sees potential to expand its portfolio with additional products aligned with RSPO standards.

Already recognized for having one of the lowest carbon footprints in its product class, SONGNOX 1076 now offers customers an additional pathway toward more responsible sourcing. The RSPO-certified option supports efforts to avoid deforestation, strengthen supply chain transparency and prepare for evolving regulatory requirements, including future EU deforestation regulations.

"We are proud to provide a product that helps customers meet evolving sustainability and regulatory expectations without compromising performance,” said Hyeokkoo Lee, Global Product Manager Main Antioxidants. “Our focus is on converting responsible sourcing commitments into practical actions that generate strong performance and measurable impact.”
