Sumitomo Seika Chemicals Co. has announced the completion of the dedicated pilot plant for super absorbent polymers at its Himeji Works (Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture) I n Japan.

In the super absorbent polymers business, the company is developing new products focused on consideration for environment and safety and high value-added, as well as streamlining its operations to further enhance its competitiveness.

This plant is designed as a scaled-down model of its actual manufacturing plant, enabling medium-scale experiments under conditions similar to actual manufacturing environments.

In addition, with a view to innovations in production technologies and operational sophistication in the future, it features a highly expandable and flexible design to accommodate more severe operating conditions such as high temperatures and high pressures.

The company aims to accelerate commercialization by fully leveraging this facility to ensure a smooth transition of new technologies from development research to industrialization research.

Going forward, the Sumitomo Seika Group remains committed to contributing to the realization of a sustainable society by developing technologies that contribute to the achievement of carbon neutrality and by pursuing product development in line with the principles of product stewardship through Sumitomo Seika’s ”Chemistry.”
