Synthos resumes ESBR production after fire

The event had no significant impact on other production facilities.

On January 7, 2021, an explosion and fire occurred at the Synthos Dwory (Oswiecim) production site. At 6:46 PM an uncontrolled ignition catalyzed an explosion and a fire in the incinerator of the ESBR rubber production installation. The firefighting operation began immediately. The fire was extinguished by the teams of the Company Firefighters and the State Fire Brigade within about 45 minutes. The resulting fire on the installation has been ceased, the ESBR production unit has been idled and  put on safe. 

As a result of the incident, none of the employees were injured. There was no excess emission to the atmosphere and land waters, production lines were immediately shut down. The event had no significant impact on other production facilities. Windows in the nearby halls were damaged, pipelines discharging off-gases from the rubber drying installation were damaged.

The causes and estimates of losses are currently under investigation of Synthos and the authorities.
