The Board of Directors of Tata Chemicals has approved the setting up a greenfield manufacturing facility at Valinokkam, Ramnathapuram district, Tamilnadu for production of Iodised Vacuum Salt Dried (IVSD).

The proposed facility, to be set up at an investment of Rs. 515 crore, will manufacture IVSD with an annual production capacity of 210 kilo tonnes per annum (KTPA).

The company said that the project is expected to be completed within 36 months. The investment will be financed through a combination of internal accruals and external funding, though the company did not disclose specific details of the financing structure.

Tata Chemicals currently has a IVSD manufacturing capacity of 1.6 million tonnes per annum at its Mithapur (Gujarat) Plant. This investment is intended to create a second manufacturing site for IVSD at South India and create higher efficiency in supply chain and optimize logistic costs.
