Urea production increases in Oct, achieves more than target quantity

After failing to achieve the required results in September, the production of urea in October has been more than the target fixed for the month, according to official figures.

After failing to achieve the required results in September, the production of urea in October has been more than the target fixed for the month, according to official figures.

\"In October, estimated production of urea was 19.01 lakh MT against the target of 17.42 lakh MT. Production of urea had been more than the target by 1.59 lakh MT. Estimated production of DAP during the month was 2.72 lakh MT as against the target of 4.24 lakh MT. Production of DAP had been less than the target by 1.52 lakh MT,\" the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals (DCPC) said in a release.

Estimated production of urea during September was 17.66 lakh MT against the target of 18.28 lakh MT. The estimated production of DAP during the month was 3.25 lakh MT as against the target of 4.22 lakh MT. The production of DAP had been less than the target by 0.97 lakh MT, the DCPC said.

During October, approximately 20.69 lakh MT (both indigenous and imported) urea was despatched to various states. Availability of urea during the month of October was about 24.92 lakh MT and availability was satisfactory in all the states. Further, sale of urea in the current season up to 31.10.2011 was about 161.96 lakh MT which is higher by 8.12 per cent as compared to the sale of 149.79 lakh MT in the corresponding period of the previous year.

As regards decontrolled fertilizers, availability of DAP and MOP during the month of October had been about 14.22 lakh MT and 3.00 lakh MT respectively, which was adequate to meet the demand of the states.

During the month of October, 7.95 lakh MT of urea was imported of which 2.41 lakh MT was imported from OMIFCO, Oman and 5.54 lakh MT from others.

In addition, 8.95 lakh MT of DAP, 0.40 lakh MT of MAP, 0.44 lakh MT of TSP, 6.27 lakh MT of NPK and 7.92 lakh MT of MOP was also imported into the country, the DCPC said.
