US plastic resin production up 7.1% in May

Year-to-date production was 35.4 billion pounds, a 6.6 percent increase

U.S. production of major plastic resins totalled 7.3 billion pounds during May 2018, an increase of 7.1 percent compared to the same month in 2017, according to statistics released today by the American Chemistry Council (ACC). Year-to-date production was 35.4 billion pounds, a 6.6 percent increase as compared to the same period in 2017.

Sales and captive (internal) use of major plastic resins totalled 7.4 billion pounds during May 2018, an increase of 9.2 percent from the same month one year earlier. Year-to-date sales and captive use was 34.9 billion pounds, a 5.8 percent increase as compared to the same period in 2017.
