Varindera Organics proposes coating chemicals plant in Punjab

Varindera Organics Pvt Ltd has approached the Ministry of Environment and Forests for environmental clearance to its proposed unit at Derabassi in Punjab’s Mohali district for manufacturing industrial coating chemicals.

Varindera Organics Pvt Ltd has approached the Ministry of Environment and Forests for environmental clearance to its proposed unit at Derabassi in Punjab’s Mohali district for manufacturing industrial coating chemicals.

In its presentation to the Ministry for environmental clearance, the company said that it intends to manufacture 36 TPD of ethyl acetate and 4 TPD of butyl acetate.

The raw materials are ethyl alcohol, acetic acid and butyl alcohol.

The total cost of the project is Rs 1.55 crore. The total plot area of the unit is 2090.32 sq m, of which 731.61 sq m is for greenbelt development.

“The purpose of a greenbelt around the plant site is to capture the fugitive emission, attenuate the noise generated and improve the aesthetics. A wide range of plant species will be planted in and around the premises to help capture the fugitive emission and noise levels from the plant premises,” the company said.

Fugitive emissions in production blocks will be avoided by consuming solvents immediately. Process emissions are mitigated by effective scrubbing. Fugitive emissions from storage tanks will be avoided by providing air condensers, the company said.

Further there are no historical places, defence installations, archaeological sites, wildlife sanctuaries or national parks and ecologically-sensitive areas within 5 km of the project site.

In its presentation, the company said there will not be any major potential for negative impact on the environment due to the proposed project. On the contrary, there will be positive impact on the socio-economic environment since the project will generate some permanent and secondary employment and it will increase direct and indirect employment opportunities, the company said.

The company it will adopt all safety and hazard identification measures besides a strong disaster management policy.

Regular monitoring of all significant environmental parameters will be done at frequent intervals, it said.

\"To implement the environment monitoring programme, a structured environment management cell interwoven with the existing management system will be created,\" it said.
