CPH Chemie + Papier Holding forays into the Indian chemical and pharmaceutical market with the acquisition of Sorbead India and Swambe Chemicals
Zeochem, the chemistry division of the CPH Chemie + Papier Holding AG, acquired Sorbead India and Vadodara-based Swambe Chemicals. The acquisition was announced on January 23, 2024.
The purchase of the India-based distributor of molecular sieves and packaging materials and manufacturer of chromatography gels marks a further step in the CPH Group’s expansion strategy.
With the acquisition of Sorbead India and Swambe Chemicals, CPH Chemie + Papier Holding enters the Indian chemical and pharmaceutical market with its own presence and complements its product range in the chemicals division.
“The CPH Group wants to expand its global market position in regions with high growth potential and, through this acquisition, further reduce its dependence on the European paper market. The purchase of Sorbead India and Swambe Chemicals is a further consistent step in the implementation of our company’s strategy,” says Dr. Peter Schildknecht, CEO, CPH Group.
Sorbead India and Swambe Chemicals perfectly complements Zeochem's global activities geographically and with its product portfolio. With our own company in India, we want to participate in the strong growth on the subcontinent,” says Dr. Alois Waldburg-Zeil, Head of Chemistry at CPH Chemie + Papier Holding AG.
“We are pleased that our company has found a reliable partner in Zeochem for the start of a new future. Zeochem, with it’s over 200-year history, is a guarantee for the long-term development of Sorbead India and Swambe Chemicals. We are convinced that the continuation of our business in the hands of Zeochem will create added value for our business partners and employees,” says Rajesh Galgalikar from Sorbead India and Swambe Chemicals.
Aarayaa along with their Swiss colleagues in The CFI Group acted as the exclusive financial advisor to Zeochem.
