Speakers for the panel discussion are: Subhash Singh, CISO & Head Enterprise Architect, Deepak Fertilisers and Petrochemicals Corp Ltd.; Atul Govil, CTO & Head (SAP & IT), India Glycols Ltd.; Rajesh Tripathi, Sr. VP - Projects, Engineering & IT, SRF Ltd.; Krishnakumar Pandey, Head - IT, Epsilon Carbon Pvt. Ltd. Partha Sur, Sr. General Manager – Technology, Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd.; and Naveen Kumar, Vice President – Chemical Segment, AVEVA; The moderator for the session is Pravin Prashant, Executive Editor, Indian Chemical News.

The Indian chemicals industry is a dynamic and growing sector, adding around 7% to India's GDP and contributes around 15% to manufacturing output. The sector is expected to reach US $304 billion by 2025, fuelled by the rising demand from various end-use sectors such as pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, FMCG, automobiles, textiles, paints, and plastics.

India's demographic driven growth can potentially take the chemicals sector to US $800 million – US $1 trillion by 2040. However, the sector also faces numerous significant challenges, which could prove to be a stumbling block in achieving these impressive projections. These blocks can be overcomed, to a certain extent, by encouraging Indian chemical companies to deploy Industry 4.0 and digital transformation in a comprehensive and 360 degree manner.

Leveraging data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) can enable data-driven decision making in the chemical industry. This includes predictive maintenance, production optimization, and supply chain management, leading to improved productivity and profitability. Also, integrating automation systems and IoT (Internet of Things) devices can lead to increased efficiency, reduced costs, and improved safety in chemical manufacturing. Encouraging companies to invest in these technologies can help accelerate the digital transformation process. Moreover, a suitable collaboration between chemical companies and technology providers can accelerate digital transformation across all divisions within the chemical manufacturing ecosystem.

Points to be discussed during E-conference are: Developing Digital Infrastructure; Collaboration and Partnerships; Implementation of Automation and IoT; Utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML); Achieving Operational Excellence; Ensuring Safe and Efficient Operations; Data-driven Decision Making; Enhancing Skill Sets; and Focus on Sustainability.
