Mitsui Chemicals digitizes supply chain with new proprietary procurement platform

Integrating automatic disaster detection and supplier evaluation to enhance supply chain risk management

  • By ICN Bureau | January 20, 2026

Mitsui Chemicals has announced the launch of a proprietary, AI-powered procurement platform designed to strengthen disaster preparedness and business continuity planning (BCP) across its supply chain.

Unlike previous manual methods, this platform automatically detects disasters and centralizes supplier information, drastically reducing the lead time for initial responses.

The system integrates internal supplier performance evaluations with external data, enabling objective, data-driven assessments of supplier risk-response capabilities.

By transforming procurement through digital tools and enhancing supplier collaboration, Mitsui Chemicals aims to create a more resilient, transparent, and stable supply chain.

This initiative is part of a broader strategy to digitize operations and mitigate risks associated with natural disasters and geopolitical issues.
