Indian speciality chemicals MNC SRF Limited’s Dahej facility has been named the 2025 Plant of the Year by FieldComm Group, a global leader in industrial automation standards. The award recognizes SRF’s outstanding achievements in digital transformation, operational excellence, and innovation using open, interoperable FieldComm technologies.

Spanning 300 acres, the company's Dahej complex is one of the world’s most advanced specialty chemical and fluorochemical plants. Leveraging HART, WirelessHART, and FOUNDATION Fieldbus technologies, the facility has integrated more than 40,000 smart field devices, enabling seamless communication, real-time diagnostics, and readiness for Industrial IoT and Ethernet-APL connectivity.

“SRF’s digital transformation journey reflects a deep commitment to innovation and continuous improvement,” said Ted Masters, President and CEO of FieldComm Group. “Their strategic adoption of open communication standards has enhanced safety, boosted reliability, and generated multi-million-dollar savings. SRF Dahej is a model for operational excellence, and that’s why it earns this award.”

SRF’s modernization journey began in 2010 with the rollout of HART technology and has grown into a comprehensive digital ecosystem combining FOUNDATION Fieldbus, WirelessHART, and Instrument Asset Management Systems (IAMS). These initiatives have delivered over $10.7 million in cumulative savings through improved uptime, faster commissioning, and predictive maintenance.

The plant’s embrace of open, interoperable standards has transformed lifecycle management, asset performance, and sustainability practices. Looking ahead, SRF Dahej plans to integrate AI-driven analytics, predictive maintenance, and full Ethernet-APL connectivity across both greenfield and brownfield operations by 2030.

The FieldComm Group’s Plant of the Year Award honors facilities that excel in deploying HART, FOUNDATION Fieldbus, FDI, FDT/DTM, PA-DIM, and Ethernet-APL technologies to optimize operations, cut costs, and increase availability. With this recognition, SRF Dahej joins an elite global network of industrial plants shaping the future of automation.

“Recognition like this validates our decade-long focus on digital excellence,” said an SRF spokesperson. “We are proud to showcase how open standards and smart technology can transform operations and deliver measurable impact.”
