Syensqo achieves certification for its digital PCF method

Certification validates the robustness of Syensqo’s digital PCF tool, better supporting customers in achieving their sustainability goals

Syensqo has achieved third-party certification for the method used in its digital PCF tool, deployed across its Novecare business portfolio. Certification confirms the company’s ability to reliably calculate the product carbon footprint of products designed for the agro, home and beauty care, coatings and industrial markets, and to provide customers with the data needed to drive decarbonization and accelerate the transition to more sustainable value chains.

Syensqo has committed to reaching carbon neutrality for Scope 1 and 2 by 2040 and certification marks another key milestone toward achieving this goal. The certification process, conducted by TÜV Rheinland, involved comprehensive audits and demonstrations of the tool’s capabilities, ensuring alignment with globally recognized standards. It confirms compliance with ISO 14067, which is the global standard for PCF calculation, and the Together for Sustainability (TfS) guidelines, designed specifically for the chemical industry.

"This certification reinforces our ability to support our customers in achieving their sustainability goals by guaranteeing the validity of our calculations," said Michael Radossich, Performance & Care Division President at Syensqo. “By certifying our digital PCF tool, we’re demonstrating our commitment to meeting our customers’ needs for high quality data, contributing to a virtuous value chain and informing the continued development of sustainable products.”

With PCF becoming a critical metric for assessing the environmental impact of products, Syensqo is proactively scaling its capabilities to deliver trusted data. In 2024, the company received and responded to more than ten times the amount of PCF requests than in 2023 for its Novecare portfolio, reflecting both increased customer focus on PCF and the expanded reach and capability of Syensqo’s PCF tool.

The digital PCF tool is also aligned with two strategic initiatives focused on Syensqo’s suppliers of raw materials. One initiative aims to strengthen alignment across the value chain by incorporating in digital PCF calculations the suppliers’ PCF data that have passed review tests. This allowed Syensqo to reach alignment with its suppliers for 38% of its raw materials Scope 3 impact in 2024. The other initiative, launched in 2025 and focused on Syensqo’s Top 70 suppliers, establishes Climate Pledges, in which suppliers commit to support efforts to advance decarbonization for lower PCF. As of April 2025, this covered 35% of Syensqo’s Scope 3 raw materials impact.
