Belding unveils indigenous Hybrid BESS

To cut diesel dependency & drive India’s clean energy transition

  • By ICN Bureau | July 14, 2026
Belding India has unveiled its indigenously designed and developed Hybrid Battery Energy Storage System (Hybrid BESS) at India Energy Storage Week 2026.

This marks a major step forward in the company’s energy storage journey. The advanced power backup solution was formally launched by Shripad Yesso Naik, Hon’ble Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy, Government of India.

Designed and developed in India, the Hybrid BESS offers a next-generation solution for improving the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of diesel generator (DG)-based power systems.

The system can reduce diesel consumption by 40–80%, depending on the load profile, helping industries lower fuel costs, reduce operational expenses, and minimize generator runtime.

By optimizing DG performance and reducing unnecessary usage, the Hybrid BESS also helps lower maintenance requirements and extend generator life.

The system delivers seamless backup power during DG start-up, eliminating interruptions, while enabling peak load shaving by allowing the battery to handle sudden demand spikes. This reduces the need for oversized DG capacity and ensures generators operate within their most efficient load range.

Beyond fuel savings, the Hybrid BESS provides clean and stable power with improved voltage and frequency regulation. It supports the integration of renewable energy sources, including solar power, while reducing carbon emissions and noise pollution.

These capabilities make it a powerful solution for improving uptime, reliability, and lifecycle cost efficiency across critical power applications.

The system is designed for deployment across diverse sectors, including data centres, manufacturing facilities, hospitals, airports, telecom infrastructure, mining operations, oil and gas facilities, defence establishments, remote industrial sites, and construction projects.

Commenting on the launch, Umesh Kumar Sahay, Chairman, Belding India Limited, said: "The launch marks a significant milestone in the company's energy storage journey and reinforces its commitment to delivering sustainable, and innovative energy solutions that reduce dependence on conventional energy backup systems while supporting India's clean energy transition.

"The future of energy lies in intelligent, efficient, and sustainable power management. Our Hybrid BESS is designed to help industries significantly reduce diesel dependency while ensuring uninterrupted, high-quality power for critical operations. This launch reflects Belding India’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the Make in India vision, as we continue to develop next-generation energy solutions for India and global markets.”

With the launch of Hybrid BESS, Belding India Limited strengthens its focus on building advanced energy solutions that support industrial resilience, energy efficiency, and India’s transition towards a cleaner and more sustainable power ecosystem.
