Plenitude buys ACEA Energia in €587m deal to fast-track Its European power expansion
The agreement hands Plenitude a 100% stake in ACEA Energia and a 50% share in Umbria Energy

Plenitude has agreed to buy ACEA Energia, the energy retail arm of Italian utility ACEA, for approximately €587 million in a deal that will accelerate its European expansion.
The acquisition includes ACEA Energia's customer base of over 1.4 million in Italy, a 50% stake in Umbria Energy, and a potential €100 million earn-out payment.
This acquisition allows Plenitude to exceed its 2028 customer target and boost its European customer base beyond 11 million.
For ACEA Group, the sale marks a strategic pivot. The company says the move strengthens its focus on infrastructure-driven businesses in line with its Business Plan.
Plenitude CEO Stefano Goberti hailed the agreement as a milestone: “I am very pleased with this agreement; it represents an important step in our growth journey. The combination of Plenitude and Acea Energia’s expertise will create significant synergies, reinforced by our customers’ trust in our vision.”
ACEA CEO Fabrizio Palermo said the deal will accelerate investment where the group sees its future: “This transaction will allow us to reinvest in infrastructure, innovation and sustainability and in the development of regulated businesses, generating a positive impact on the Group’s growth and results…
