Aadequate availability of fertilizers ensured for Kharif 2025

The Department of Fertilizers has imposed a ceiling of 50 bags of subsidized fertilizers per buyer per month

Fertilizers including Urea, DAP, MoP, and NPKS have remained adequately available across the country during the ongoing Kharif 2025 season.

To ensure timely and sufficient fertilizer supply each season, the Government undertakes the following measures. This includes the information regarding state-wise and month-wise fertilizer requirements, monthly supply plan and continuously monitoring the availability, movement and timely availability of fertilizers.

Fertilizers are declared essential commodities and regulated under the Fertilizer Control Order, 1985, and the Fertilizer (Movement Control) Order, 1973. State Governments are empowered under the Fertilizer Control Order (FCO) to prevent black marketing and hoarding of fertilizers and to take punitive action against individuals or companies violating the provisions of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, and the FCO.

To curb misuse, the Department of Fertilizers has imposed a ceiling of 50 bags of subsidized fertilizers per buyer per month, totaling 600 bags per year. Additionally, a monthly list of the top 20 buyers in each district is made available via the Integrated Fertilizer Monitoring System (iFMS) login for respective district magistrates to take necessary action.

The Department of Fertilizers has also developed an easy-to-access dashboard for authorized users. This dashboard enables efficient monitoring by stakeholders including State Agriculture Departments, District Collectors, and State Marketing Federations. State Governments actively monitor fertilizer availability and supply through the iFMS and e-Urvarak dashboard portals.

This information was provided by the Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers, Smt. Anupriya Patel, in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha recently.
