Petronet LNG, ONGC sign 5-year deal to boost LNG regasification at Dahej Terminal

In a move set to strengthen India’s gas infrastructure, Petronet LNG Limited (PLL) and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) Limited have signed a five-year Master Regasification Agreement (MRA) for the receipt, storage, and regasification of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) at PLL’s Dahej terminal.

Under the agreement, PLL will provide regasification services to ONGC, enabling the energy major to supply regasified natural gas to meet the requirements of its downstream consumers. The MRA includes a provision for further extension based on mutual consent.

“ONGC has evinced interest in entering into Gas marketing by importing LNG and selling RLNG for market and captive usage as growth of Indian gas market is supported by expansion of gas pipelines, CGD network and LNG regas terminals,” the companies said in a joint statement.

The partnership aligns with ONGC’s strategy to supplement domestic natural gas production with LNG-based supplies, addressing rising demand across various consuming sectors.

The agreement was signed on the opening day of India Energy Week 2026 at ATI ONGC, Goa, in the presence of Akshay Kumar Singh, Managing Director & CEO, PLL, and Shri Arunangshu Sarkar, Director Strategy & Corporate Affairs, ONGC.

ONGC is a promoter and related party of PLL, with the CMD of ONGC serving as a nominee director on PLL’s board. The companies emphasized that the transaction is being conducted at arm’s length.
