The certification covers the design, manufacture, and supply of Gate, Ball, Check, and Globe Valves for the petroleum and natural gas sector
Atam Valves Limited has secured a major global quality milestone.
The industrial valve manufacturer has received the API Spec Q1, 10th Edition Certification from the American Petroleum Institute (API), a move that positions it for deeper penetration into the international oil and gas supply chain.
The certification covers the design, manufacture, and supply of Gate, Ball, Check, and Globe Valves for the petroleum and natural gas sector. It marks a significant upgrade in the company’s compliance framework, aligning it with one of the most stringent quality standards in the global energy industry.
For Atam Valves, the approval is more than a badge of compliance—it signals a structural shift in its manufacturing and market strategy. The company has strengthened its production ecosystem with advanced CNC machining, enhanced testing infrastructure, and improved traceability systems, enabling it to meet critical-service requirements demanded by global energy operators.
API Spec Q1 is widely recognised as a benchmark for quality management in the oil and gas sector, going well beyond ISO 9001 with its emphasis on risk management, product realisation, and tightly controlled manufacturing processes.
With this certification, Atam Valves gains access to new commercial opportunities with oil & gas majors, EPC contractors, and international clients, particularly across high-growth regions such as the Middle East and Africa.
The company has outlined several strategic advantages stemming from the certification. These include a margin-accretive shift toward API-grade valves, expansion into larger and higher-pressure valve categories (up to 70 inches), and accelerated growth of its WCB (carbon steel) valve segment covering Ball, Gate, Globe, and Check Valves.
Speaking on the milestone, Amit Jain, Managing Director of Atam Valves Ltd, said: “This certification has been a long time coming, and the company went through rigorous multi-stage audits, faced observations and rejections that required us to go back, rebuild our systems and re-present ourselves to the API.
"Each time, we chose to do the work correctly rather than cut corners. The certification itself is only the beginning. Our journey has just begun! This certification marks our transition into a more structured, compliance-driven organization, enabling us to deliver reliable and globally accepted solutions for the oil & gas sector. We are committed to each of those steps with the same perseverance.”
