The ARKA GKT-1 was officially revealed by Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Electronics & IT, marking a significant step forward in India’s journey toward technological self-reliance and global semiconductor leadership
Azimuth AI, a next-generation embedded silicon innovator, and Cyient Semiconductors, a leader in custom ASIC turnkey solutions and intelligent power technologies, have jointly unveiled ARKA GKT-1, India’s first-generation intelligent-power platform-on-a-chip. Purpose-built for high-efficiency edge AI, smart energy, and industrial applications, the chip represents a major milestone in India’s semiconductor and deep-tech advancement.
The ARKA GKT-1 was officially revealed by Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Electronics & IT, marking a significant step forward in India’s journey toward technological self-reliance and global semiconductor leadership.
Developed through close collaboration between Azimuth AI and Cyient Semiconductors, ARKA GKT-1 integrates multi-core custom compute engines, advanced analog sensing, high-efficiency memory, and intelligent power management into a single, ultra-low-power system-on-chip. Designed for use in smart utilities, advanced metering infrastructure, battery management systems, industrial automation, and smart city infrastructure, the chip enables real-time, on-device intelligence at minimal power consumption.
This first-generation platform is built on Azimuth AI’s Software-Defined Silicon architecture and fortified with Cyient Semiconductors’ expertise in mixed-signal design, intelligent power technology, and low-energy ASIC engineering. Together, they provide a flexible, scalable foundation for next-generation silicon solutions tailored for both domestic and global markets.
Speaking at the launch, Vaishnaw said, “The ARKA GKT-1 showcases India’s capability to design and develop world-class semiconductor technologies for critical global industries. This milestone reflects our nation’s accelerating progress toward self-reliance, advanced manufacturing, and leadership in next-generation chip innovation.”
Krishna Bodanapu, Executive Vice-Chairman & Managing Director, Cyient Semiconductors, noted that the ARKA GKT-1 represents a defining leap in India’s semiconductor evolution. He highlighted that the collaboration demonstrates the strength of India’s custom ASIC ecosystem, covering everything from design through fabrication, OSAT management, and final chip delivery—aligning with the vision of the India Semiconductor Mission and strengthening the domestic value chain.
Praveen Yasarapu, Founder & CEO of Azimuth AI, emphasized that ARKA GKT-1 fulfills the company’s mission to deliver intelligent, low-power silicon for edge applications. He stated that the chip is strategically designed for high-growth markets including smart utilities, energy management, industrial intelligence, and next-generation battery systems. The launch validates Azimuth AI’s technology roadmap and opens the path for large-scale deployment and commercialization.
The introduction of ARKA GKT-1 reinforces India’s capability to design and develop advanced semiconductor solutions entirely within the country. This breakthrough marks a significant inflection point for both Cyient Semiconductors and Azimuth AI, setting the stage for future innovation in edge AI, smart infrastructure, and industrial intelligence.
